Teen Vogue interview

Evan was interviewed by Teen Vogue a few days ago, here are some highlights (click on the link for the complete interview)

"From a young age, I've always liked my pale skin. People used to call me Casper when I was young, but I didn't really care."
"One day I'd love to get behind the camera—that'd be cool. I have to write an autobiography. I look back on my life experiences already and think, This is crazy—I have to write a book! I definitely want to have a family and just keep doing what I'm doing, working with interesting people and always taking chances."
I'd so read that book.

And an adorable picture from the Vogue's Guns N' Roses Party last night. Thanks to fuckyeahevanrwood.tumblr.com for finding it :)

Daily updates!

New pic from set (thanks to fuckyeahevanrwood.tumblr.com)

- In other news Variety announced that Brendan Fraser and Sienna Miller joined the cast of "A Case of You".

- Finally an article from Elle in which this can be read:
“And I love my short hair so much, I don’t think I’m ever going to grow it out.” When we give her an incredulous look, Wood flashes a mischievous smile and quickly adds, “Well, at least not for awhile.”

Evan on Flaunt Magazine!

Just Jared published some Evan's picture as a preview from the Flaunt magazine February issue that will feature her new photoshoot by Ellen von Unwerth. Apparently Evan visited a psychic with the magazine and heard about what the future will bring her, nice start for an interview, not usual at least.
Following you'll find the pictures and after the cut some interview excerpts! What's your favorite? The one with her in the bathrobe should come with a warning.

Kate Winslet on Evan and new Aussie interview!

The awards season is just beginning and on Variety we already have an interesting "Actor on Actor" article by the lovely Kate Winslet in which she praises Evan's performance in The Ides of March.
"Evan could have gone very hysterical with this role. She could have dressed it up much more than she did and been more showy. But she looked like an intern. She looked like a girl in an office. Evan kept that character human. She was just a girl who had got herself in an uncomfortable situation. And I felt as though she played the honesty of that scenario. She didn't resort to any clever diverting tactics that could have added other colors to the character. They would have been, in my opinion, the wrong colors. Evan is smart enough to know not to go down those roads.I am a very big fan of her opening scene with Ryan Gosling. Pretty much everything that came out of her mouth was not a statement. It was a question! I was like, 'Wow! One. Two. Three. Four. Oh my god! Eight. Nine. Oh my God!' Her last two lines in the scene are not questions and that's pretty much it! I was quite taken aback by that. As an acting thing, that's very difficult to do. Especially in a scene with one other person who happens to be a man who you need to let the audience know you are inevitably going to be having some kind of relationship with. She covered so much in a tiny scene. Also, there's the scene with Ryan in bed when there's the mixup with the mobile phone -- the way that she handled that scene was incredibly graceful. She could have gone all-out hysteria. It could have been an ugly, ugly scene to watch. But what she did very cleverly was force us to listen to her and to sympathize, to emphasize. That scene pulled me deeper into the movie."

Evan Aussie interview

Some interviews from the Venice film festival are still being released...and we're never tired of anecdotes about the Ides cast getaway at Clooney's lake Como house.
Here's a few excerpts:
''I am a black belt in taekwondo,'' she explains, when I ask of her sporting prowess, ''I used to compete. We were at George's house in Lake Como and he has a basketball court. I teamed up and actually challenged him. They beat us - but it was close. I had game, I got it.''
''I was always, if anything, a bit snobby about fashion,'' she says. ''I didn't realise there was a real art to it, that it could be used to express yourself … Now I'm fascinated by it.''
"'George had promised me, since filming, that after we premiered the film we'd jump in the pool in our suits and dresses,'' she says, revealing that she entertained guests with rousing renditions of Janis Joplin and Tina Turner numbers at the after party. ''Everyone chickened out. And I thought, 'No, I'm doing it'. I thought, 'You guys are missing out, this is amazing'. I was floating in the middle of a pool in Venice, staring up at the stars. It was magical.''

Latest news!

  • All the NY Evan fans should check out this. I'd pay solid gold to be able to attend it(and apparently people will have to pay exactly that since it's a benefit event an tables are hugely expensive) anyway Evan will be there so I hope some of videos/photos will leak and we'll be able to enjoy a small amount of hilariousness ourselves :)

  • On another note a nice interview from Evan, taken last friday, talking about the different roles in Ides and Mildred Pierce

AFI Fest 2011 - Young Hollywood Roundtable - Article

While we eagerly await for some kind soul to upload videos from the AFI roundtable from last Friday, the most interested in the topics discussed, more than the cuteness displayed, will certainly dig this article.
I cut out some quotes from miss Wood to make your reading easier. You're welcome :P
And check the video after the cut too!

- Wood revealed that, like most fellow fourteen year olds, she was a fan of Clueless and while she was filming Thirteen, Jeremy Sisto (who had played Elton in Clueless) drove her home and all she could think was how cool it was to have Elton driving her home, just like he did with Cher (Alicia Silverstone) in the film (but without Sisto abandoning her in the Valley at the end of their ride).
- (With Wood whole-heartedly agreeing) Yelchin had a very specific view of Hollywood thanks to a trip to a “restaurant/arcade/sex shop” with his uncle near the Knickerbocker hotel when he was five and witnessed a group of punk kids walk up to someone’s table and take a bite out of their cupcake.

Interview from The Independent

A new interview from the Independent
New still from the Ides of March
"The funny thing is I was a really good kid because I was raised extremely strict and I was working a lot. My mother wanted to be really, really careful because in this business, it's easy to go off the deep end, but I think that it worked against her because when I turned 18, I had been so sheltered for so long that I just exploded! I am glad I did because it teaches you a lot about yourself. Now, I've got it out of my system and I am ready to settle down."
How did her explosion manifest itself? "I hopped on a tour bus and I got engaged to a rock star," she laughs with just a hint of embarrassment about her own antics. "It doesn't get much crazier."

Interview from Irishtimes.com

And after the Scottish paper interview we have the Irish one. Here's some excerpts:

On her career at an early age“But my mom never pushed me to do things I didn’t want. She’s an actress and a movie geek. So she got it. She was tough. But that’s good. This business can be hard. But still, it’s not always fun when you’re a teenager and you just want to have fun. I appreciate it now.”
On taking sometime off to find herself“I had to find things out for myself,” she says. “I never let myself get carried away. So, I took that time out to find myself. A lot of times I had to ask where we were. We’d get off the bus. ‘Oh, this is Belgium.; Okay, let’s enjoy that.”
On Marylin Manson (yet again)“He is exactly as he seems,” she says. “That’s to say he’s the Marilyn and the Manson. He is what he represents on stage. He’s that 24/7. One of the things he prides himself on is that his life becomes part of his art. But also, on the other side, he’s really hilarious. I get it that people are interested in that. It’s totally fine.”

New interview for Scotsman.com

During her latest visit to the UK Evan has been very generous with interviews so yet another one from scotsman.com. Below a few extracts:

On her childhood“I was always kind of marching to my own drum, and I was always the black sheep. People think when you’re an actress and you’re beautiful that you must have had it so easy and, if anything, it made me feel more of an outcast.”
On the fame“It’s hard because if you could read any note that’s been passed about you, or hear any bad thing anyone’s ever said, if I wanted to, I could hear it all. When you’re happy with yourself, it doesn’t matter what people say about you, and I think that was my problem: it will get to you if you have some issue you haven’t dealt with.”
On her sexuality: “I knew there was this side of me that I had my whole life and I hadn’t explored it, and I wanted to do that. Because I want to know myself and I wanted to be confident in that area of my life. And I certainly did that,” she smiles, “and it was great. And then I felt confident enough to come out with it, because I’d explored it, and I knew that it was real and me, and that there was nothing to be ashamed or afraid of.”
Had she been unhappy keeping it a secret? “Yeah, because you’re unsure and it’s terrifying. When you’re in the public eye it makes it scarier because you don’t know how people are going to react. But that’s why you have to be you. You’ve got to be you.”

Metro UK interview

New Interview for Metro UK, not quite as good as the Guardian one.
It has some interesting bits about Evan coming out to her parents:

‘It’s always one thing to say that  and it’s another to be presented with it. They dealt with it really well but it is always hilarious talking about sex with your parents. Whatever sexuality you are, they don’t really want to acknowledge it either way. So they were fine with it but they don’t really want to talk about it.’
and Manson:

"Are they still in touch? ‘We’re friendly,’ she winks. ‘As friendly as two exes can be."

Ides of March - Guardian Interview

I extracted some excerpts from the interview, but you really have to read it because it's one of the best I read lately, the link is at the bottom of the post.

About George Clooney: "He's kind of an Across the Universe geek,"
 ...
She didn't hang around with interns in Washington to research the part: "I hang out in Hollywood: that's pretty political."

...
"I was getting really envious of guys being able to wear suits and run their fingers through their hair and that was all they had to do. I thought, screw it, I'm going to do that. I don't know how I'm ever going to go back now."
Please don't
...

"There's a lot more pressure on women to look a certain way, to be skinny, to be this and that. I think that's one of the reasons why I chopped all my hair off. I was just like, 'No, I'm not doing this.'"
"You'll drive yourself crazy because you're never going to be the perfect weight, you're never going to be the perfect anything."
