Evan in the Vote Against Project!

It's been a while since I updated here but with the holidays and all it's been a slow news month. So let's recap all the loose ends we left:
- Evan didn't win the Satellite Award on 18th December and she didn't even attend the ceremony, Vanessa Williams won for Desperate Housewives.
- The photoshoot done in Dubai, probably for Vanity Fair, hasn't been seen or announced anywhere yet.
- Today Evan and Jamie were photographed for the "Vote Against Project", the photos will be used to campaign against the North Carolina constitutional amendment against gay marriage that will be voted on May 8, 2012. I think it's really great Evan gives her support to this initiative :)

Evan gets her second Golden Globe nomination!

The nominations for the Golden Globes were announced today and Evan is listed among the Best Actresses for a Miniseries.
The other nominees are:
  • Jessica Lange, American Horror Story
  • Kelly Macdonald, Boardwalk Empire
  • Maggie Smith, Downton Abbey
  • Sofia Vergara, Modern Family
The competition is tough, it won't be a piece of cake to win this, but Evan's performance in Mildred Pierce is outstanding and Maggie Smith already won an Emmy, give Evan the Globe!

YES.

I'd have you anytime by Evan Rachel Wood - Listen on Facebook!

The official page for Amnesty International USA on facebook has published all the songs from Chimes of Freedom. The track by Evan is breathtaking...as we ever had any doubt about it.
Listen here it's the 70th track.

Thanks to @CharlieMusgron for the tip! :)

Evan at the Andrea Bocelli Foundation Launch

Evan attended the Andrea Bocelli Foundation Launch in Beverly Hills last night...and she had a new hair color! I personally love it though I would have chosen another hair style, but few people can pull off a headband on a red carpet.
Take a look, do you like the new hair? what about the dress?

Latest news and buzz

There's been quite a few news about Evan floating around in the past few days so let's start:
  • Over at IMDB a rumor about a new movie possibly starring Evan has appeared, apparently the project is about:
"A touching comedy drama about 3 friends edging towards their thirties who, in an attempt to hang on to their carefree youth, embark on an attempt to write themselves into the history books by trying to host the world's longest house party."
There's not many other details about the project but it seems sufficiently interesting to me :) I'm currently hunting for more info, I'll let you know more in the following days (if the internet collaborates)
  • Evan is scheduled to attend tomorrow this charity event for the Bocelli Foundation, tune in on saturday for pictures and hopefully some videos
  • Some new pictures have surfaced from the portrait session for OK Middle East taken back at the Abu Dhabi Film Festival. Some of them were already been posted here and below is the rest of them (thanks to evanrachelwood.net ;)
  • A funny-critical take on the Ides of March script has been published by The Editing Room. Don't read it if you haven't watched the movie as it contains major spoilers but if you have go ahead! you'll have a laugh and more than a question about the brilliance of some plot decisions...and some jokes are very funny.

Ides of March - Liveblog/Review

So I decided to take notes during my vision of the Ides of March and here's what came of it, I edited it afterwards to make it a more readable review out of it. Also Evan was on screen so don't mind the gushing...I know you don't.

If you haven't seen the movie there may be some minor spoilers so stop here if you don't want to know anything beforehand

First scene with Evan, just 4 minutes into the movie…ok this is distracting, how is she walking? bouncy evan, wait no, clooney is talking in the background, I totally missed that, let me rewind…it's gonna be a long movie

Clooney, Giamatti, Hoffman, Gosling, Marisa Tomei all in a few seconds…I don't know where to look

"Mike Morris is a politician, he's a nice guy, they're all nice guys, he will let you down sooner or later."

I love the dialogues in this movie, they're witty and brilliant, not really common to find in movies lately. I read that some journalists compared them with the West Wing style, I don't think they're anything close to the Sorkinesque magnificence of some episodes (yeah I am a huge Aaron Sorkin fan) but they can really keep the scene alive and interesting.

And here's the conversation between Molly and Steve that's been used as promotional snippet in every talk show appearance…I'd have to say that seeing it full length is magnetizing and there's something in Evan's voice at the end when she says "My name's Molly"…I'll never get tired to hear it
And Gosling in this scene is way cuter than a puppy

Evan in Les Miserables? Yes, please.

The buzz about this has been around for a while but according to The NYPost it's official now, the race for the role of Eponine in the movie version of Les Miserables is down to four choices and Evan is one of them.

An interesting analysis about the candidates has been done on the Washington Post...here's the excerpt about Evan:

Pros: She’s probably the edgiest choice; as that aforementioned source noted to the New York Post, she “brings her indie cred.” She’s also a fine actress, and may make the cutest match with Eddie Redmayne, who is set to play Marius and currently stars opposite Michelle Williams in “My Week With Marilyn.”
Cons: Like Johansson, it’s a little hard to imagine her being the sort of girl who begs for a mere kiss on the forehead on her deathbed.
I completely agree with the Pros and the Cons, well, they are really not Cons in my opinion, as if Lea Michele and Taylor Swift can easily pass off as poor starving girls.
I'm confident in the power of make up and costume to make Evan the perfect Eponine...what do you think? I personally think the cast is so great I will for sure be quite excited to see this movie anyway...I bet Evan would absolutely love to star in this though.

Thanksgiving news and cuteness!

Finally it's been revealed the project for which Evan sang a George Harrison song back in September(if you remember she tweeted about it)!
It's a Bob Dylan tribute album for Amnesty International 50th anniversary with 72 tracks and so many amazing artists, all the details can be found here. Evan will sing I’d Have You Anytime and...if you don't know that song just listen and think about what Evan could do with that...January 24th will never come soon enough.

On another note, Evan and Jamie were going back to LA for Thanksgiving yesterday and this twitter celebrity interaction happened

I always find this quite funny, celebrities are just fans of each other like we are of them :)

I'd like to wish a happy Thanksgiving to all the American evanholics out there, hope you have a wonderful day and always thanks for the support!

Stolen picture at LAX, too cute not to be posted

Kate Winslet on Evan and new Aussie interview!

The awards season is just beginning and on Variety we already have an interesting "Actor on Actor" article by the lovely Kate Winslet in which she praises Evan's performance in The Ides of March.
"Evan could have gone very hysterical with this role. She could have dressed it up much more than she did and been more showy. But she looked like an intern. She looked like a girl in an office. Evan kept that character human. She was just a girl who had got herself in an uncomfortable situation. And I felt as though she played the honesty of that scenario. She didn't resort to any clever diverting tactics that could have added other colors to the character. They would have been, in my opinion, the wrong colors. Evan is smart enough to know not to go down those roads.I am a very big fan of her opening scene with Ryan Gosling. Pretty much everything that came out of her mouth was not a statement. It was a question! I was like, 'Wow! One. Two. Three. Four. Oh my god! Eight. Nine. Oh my God!' Her last two lines in the scene are not questions and that's pretty much it! I was quite taken aback by that. As an acting thing, that's very difficult to do. Especially in a scene with one other person who happens to be a man who you need to let the audience know you are inevitably going to be having some kind of relationship with. She covered so much in a tiny scene. Also, there's the scene with Ryan in bed when there's the mixup with the mobile phone -- the way that she handled that scene was incredibly graceful. She could have gone all-out hysteria. It could have been an ugly, ugly scene to watch. But what she did very cleverly was force us to listen to her and to sympathize, to emphasize. That scene pulled me deeper into the movie."
more after the jump!

Evan Aussie interview

Some interviews from the Venice film festival are still being released...and we're never tired of anecdotes about the Ides cast getaway at Clooney's lake Como house.
Here's a few excerpts:
''I am a black belt in taekwondo,'' she explains, when I ask of her sporting prowess, ''I used to compete. We were at George's house in Lake Como and he has a basketball court. I teamed up and actually challenged him. They beat us - but it was close. I had game, I got it.''
''I was always, if anything, a bit snobby about fashion,'' she says. ''I didn't realise there was a real art to it, that it could be used to express yourself … Now I'm fascinated by it.''
"'George had promised me, since filming, that after we premiered the film we'd jump in the pool in our suits and dresses,'' she says, revealing that she entertained guests with rousing renditions of Janis Joplin and Tina Turner numbers at the after party. ''Everyone chickened out. And I thought, 'No, I'm doing it'. I thought, 'You guys are missing out, this is amazing'. I was floating in the middle of a pool in Venice, staring up at the stars. It was magical.''
